Gone was a 360-degree branded partnership that lived within the world of Wayward Pines, but took place long before the events of the show. In it, Microsoft products were front and center and helped drive the storyline. The protagonist of Gone was searching for his missing wife, just as those were in Wayward Pines, and the only lead he had was her Microsoft Surface Tablet. In each episode, he would discover more clues about her whereabouts, much through data on her Microsoft Surface. This played out over a 30-minute show divided into 10 3-minute segments, all distributed via FOX and Microsoft Channels. Additional social content was recorded onset to further the story and marked the first time for FOX that sponsored content was captured in that manner.
Gone was a tremendous success and was held as a gold standard for partnerships byvMicrosoft. The domestic market was expanded globally and Gone was distributed and promoted in 7 additional high value markets around the world. The web series garnered over one million views and resulted in an 8-digit budget commitment from Microsoft.
